Kentucky woman killed in motorcycle crash on interstate, police say.

A 26-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle crash on I-75 in Rockcastle County on Saturday evening, according to Kentucky State Police.

Authorities identified the victim as Faith Jenkins of Somerset. She was a passenger on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the driver lost control after the rear wheel blew out around 6:05 p.m. on I-75 northbound at the 72-mile marker.

Both Jenkins and the driver were transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Berea by Rockcastle EMS. Jenkins later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. The driver, whose identity has not been released, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transferred to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Neither Jenkins nor the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing, led by Trooper Cory Jones with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Madison County EMS and the Mount Vernon Fire Department.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
