LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An off-duty LMPD officer died in a motorcycle crash involving a semi-truck on I-265 Sunday night.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the officer as 29-year-old Anthony Elliott. The incident occurred at 9:56 p.m. near the 36-mile marker.
According to authorities, Elliott was thrown from his motorcycle, suffering fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Firefighters from Anchorage/Middletown extinguished a fire that erupted when the motorcycle became wedged under the semi’s axles, but no additional injuries were reported.
LMPD officials expressed deep condolences for Officer Elliott, emphasizing his dedication to the department and the community. They are focused on supporting his family during this time.
