Loudoun County Transit Expands Service Starting July 1, 2026
Loudoun County Transit will implement significant service changes beginning July 1, 2026, including Transit On Demand in Sterling and expanded commuter bus options to Washington, D.C.
A new Transit On Demand pilot service will launch in Sterling, operating seven days a week across a 14-square-mile area. The service will be fare-free, running weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Riders can request trips using the LC Transit On Demand app, online, or by phone.
In Leesburg, Transit On Demand will operate on weekends starting July 5, 2026, adding four pick-up locations to the service area. Service hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Riders can access locations like the Shops at Russell Branch and the Village at Leesburg.
Additionally, commuter bus routes to Washington, D.C. will see enhancements, including an extra morning and evening trip from the Leesburg Park and Ride. Schedule optimizations will also be implemented to improve travel times on existing routes.
