CANTON, ME — A driver was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Route 108 in 2024.
Troy Kimball, 32, of Mexico, was sentenced in Oxford County Court on Tuesday. He will serve four-and-a-half years of a 14-year sentence, with the remainder suspended, following his conviction for manslaughter.
Authorities said Kimball tested positive for cannabis after he rear-ended 44-year-old Travis Boivin of Leeds, who had slowed for a school bus. Boivin was thrown 200 feet from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Kimball, who was not injured in the incident, faced a maximum sentence of 30 years under state law. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
