MALHEUR COUNTY, Ore. — A two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 on Saturday, July 18, resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.
Oregon State Police confirmed that a white Peterbilt semi-truck was involved in the collision when it attempted to turn left onto Siphon Drive. A black Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 67-year-old John Platt of Winters, California, struck the semi’s driver’s side as it attempted to pass.
Platt was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 70-year-old Yolanda Platt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The semi-truck’s driver, 24-year-old Victor Pena-Olvera of Marsing, Idaho, was unharmed, according to authorities.
The crash closed one lane of Highway 20 for approximately two hours. Oregon State Police received assistance from Treasure Valley Paramedics and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
