BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WAVE) – A DUI-related crash resulted in one fatality and serious injuries on Shepherdsville Road around 4:15 p.m. Friday, May 15.
According to Kentucky State Police, 51-year-old Teudis Hernandez was driving southbound on KY 245 in a 2015 blue Cadillac SRX when he crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a 1966 red Ford Mustang driven by Edward Hovan, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Mustang was transported to UofL Hospital with severe injuries and remains in critical condition, authorities said.
Hernandez sustained minor injuries and was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Following the investigation, Hernandez was charged with murder, assault, driving under the influence, operating on a suspended license, and failure to produce an insurance card. He is currently held at the Nelson County Jail.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and lane closures were in effect during the response and investigation.
