MANSFIELD — A 21-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 384 late Friday night, state police reported.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on I-384 east, just past the Exit 1B on-ramp. Authorities said a Suzuki motorcycle collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Equinox in the right lane for reasons that remain unclear.
Both the motorcycle’s driver and passenger were thrown onto the highway, where the passenger, identified as Sariah Isabelle Miranda, was subsequently struck by a BMW in an adjacent lane. Miranda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Manchester Hospital, according to police. The motorcycle operator was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries.
The drivers of both the Chevrolet and BMW reported no injuries. The crash is under investigation. Authorities are appealing to witnesses or anyone with dashboard-camera footage to contact Trooper First Class John Wilson at john.wilson@ct.gov.
