Motorcycle Crash Claims Life in Frederick County, Virginia

A Williamsport man died on Sunday, July 5, in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 81 in Frederick County, Virginia, according to Virginia State Police.

Curtis Cunningham Jr., 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by state police spokesperson Matthew Demlein. The incident occurred around 3:46 p.m. when two state troopers observed the motorcycles traveling at high speeds northbound on I-81.

Authorities said one motorcycle stopped after an attempted traffic stop, while the second motorcycle fled the scene, prompting a pursuit. The high-speed chase lasted two to three miles before the motorcycle collided with two pickup trucks, ejecting Cunningham from his vehicle.

Emergency responders from the Virginia State Police and local medical units attended the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details about injuries or lane closures have been released at this time.
