PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A 26-year-old Massachusetts motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 6 West near the Route 10 South interchange Sunday at 5:36 p.m., according to Rhode Island State Police.
The single-vehicle incident involved a black Kawasaki motorcycle, which was found on its side in the first lane of travel. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle struck a high-speed barrier while negotiating a turn, resulting in the rider being thrown from the vehicle and landing on a nearby dirt embankment.
The rider, identified as Cedrix Teixeira of Bridgewater, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
