Major Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-84 Injures 15 Motorcyclists in Canyon County
CANYON COUNTY, ID — A massive accident involving 32 vehicles, including 25 motorcycles, occurred on October 3 at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Interstate 84 near mile marker 28.
Authorities confirmed that at least 15 individuals were transported to local hospitals with injuries following the incident. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. The Idaho State Police (ISP) is conducting an investigation into the crash, which involved a group of motorcycle riders on a memorial ride.
The ISP stated that the motorcycles and other vehicles were traveling westbound on I-84 when the crash occurred, causing multiple vehicles to come to rest in the westbound lanes. The specific circumstances leading to the accident have not been disclosed.
Emergency response teams provided medical aid, and individuals were transported by air and ground ambulances. Reports indicate that the group, identified on social media as Brother Speed, was participating in the ride in honor of a friend who recently passed away from cancer.
Traffic on I-84 experienced lane closures as a result of the incident. The ISP is working to determine the cause, with discussions online suggesting potential loss of control by a biker or a vehicle that ‘brake checked’ the motorcycles. Further details will emerge as the investigation continues.
