FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – A motorcycle and pickup truck collision occurred at the intersection of M-83 and Roedel Rd. just after 2:30 p.m.
According to the Frankenmuth Police Department, the crash involved a northbound motorcycle driven by a 35-year-old man from Bay City and a southbound pickup truck towing a farm implement, driven by a 64-year-old Frankenmuth man. The pickup reportedly attempted a left turn into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Genesee County hospital by Life-Net Helicopter. He is currently in a drug-induced coma, as reported by a GoFundMe page established for him.
The pickup truck driver was unharmed, and authorities noted that neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash. Emergency responders, including the Frankenmuth Fire Department, Saginaw County Accident Investigation Team, Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, and Mobile Medical Response, were on scene to assist.
The Saginaw County Accident Investigation Team is conducting an investigation into the incident. The roadway was temporarily closed during the response and investigation.
