ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A fatal plane crash occurred Thursday evening near Snag Creek in the Wrangell Mountains, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

Alaska State Troopers confirmed that the victims were 42-year-old pilot Cabot Pitts of Palmer and 18-year-old Connor Helsel of Michigan. Their Piper Cub crashed shortly after takeoff from a remote dirt airstrip, approximately 50 miles southeast of Nabesna.

Authorities reported no survivors from the crash. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, where they confirmed the fatalities. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and no further details regarding lane closures or tows have been released at this time.
