Biker Injured in Collision with Semi Truck in Holt County
HOLT COUNTY, Mo. — A motorcycle crash involving a semi truck on U.S. Highway 59 left one biker with minor injuries Saturday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the incident took place around 6:41 p.m., approximately one mile east of Craig, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Interstate 29. A 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 38-year-old male from Graham, Wash., was traveling northbound on exit ramp 92 and turning west onto Highway 59.
Authorities reported that the semi truck failed to yield to a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was westbound on Highway 59. The motorcycle skidded in an attempt to avoid the collision and struck the front passenger side of the semi truck, resulting in the biker being ejected.
The injured biker has been identified as a 37-year-old man from Mound City, Mo. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency response teams closed one lane at the intersection to manage the situation. No further details regarding other injuries or the investigation have been released.
