KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead and another critically injured following a motorcycle collision early Sunday morning.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 3:40 a.m. to NW 128th and NW Interurban Rd. for reports of an accident.
Investigators reported that a blue Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide and a silver Honda were traveling north on Interurban Rd. when the Honda failed to navigate a curve, colliding with the Harley just south of 128th St.
Both motorcycles veered off the roadway, resulting in the ejection of both riders. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Harley rider was taken to a local hospital, where they are listed in critical condition as of 10:20 a.m.
Authorities confirmed that neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. KCPD stated that this incident marks the 44th fatal crash investigated in the city this year.
The investigation is ongoing.
