Motorcycle crash on US Highway 83 results in serious injuries for 21-year-old woman.

STERLING, N.D. — A serious crash involving a motorcycle and a semi closed US Highway 83 for over three hours on Sunday, July 28.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Fifth Avenue Northeast, approximately one mile south of Sterling. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old woman from Sterling attempted to cross US-83 on her dirt bike when she entered the path of a southbound 2016 Freightliner loaded with gravel.

The semi driver was unable to stop in time, resulting in a collision. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, sustained severe, life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. The semi driver from Devils Lake was not injured. Authorities have not released the names of either driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
