Boating Crash on Coeur d’Alene River Claims Life of 49-Year-Old
HARRISON, ID – A boating crash on the Coeur d’Alene River near Blue Lake resulted in one fatality on July 25, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), two occupants were ejected when the boat overturned. One occupant resurfaced and received assistance from nearby boaters, while the second occupant was reported missing.
The KCSO Dive Team responded and located the body of the missing occupant, identified as Matthew C. Cross, 49, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Authorities indicated that alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The incident is under investigation by KCSO marine crash investigators. No further details about the circumstances of the crash have been released.
