Motorcycle crash tragically leaves local children orphaned.

Wichita Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash Near Valley Center

A motorcycle crash on Monday night claimed the life of a 46-year-old Wichita man near Valley Center. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Meridian Street, close to 109th Street North, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Guerrero Moreno Jr. was riding a Harley-Davidson when he was struck by an SUV driven by a woman from Sedgwick. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to Moreno, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

This latest tragedy follows a 2022 accident that led to the deaths of Moreno’s wife, Erin, 42, and her son, Anthony Barrera, 17. Moreno was involved in that incident while driving an SUV on the Kansas Turnpike.

He leaves behind two sons, a teenager and a pre-teen, as well as an adult son. According to a family spokeswoman, a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral costs and support for the two younger boys has raised over $18,000.

Friends and family remembered Moreno as a spirited individual, cherishing his role as a father. A statement described him as loyal and welcoming, noting that his greatest pride was his sons.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on August 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding potential charges or road closures.
