YUMA, AZ — A motorcycle crash early Sunday morning claimed the lives of a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl.
Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 2:30 a.m. near Gila Street and Giss Parkway, just east of Interstate 8.
Investigators reported the man was riding an Aprilia RS sport bike with the girl as a passenger when they collided with a Hyundai SUV that was turning left.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene by the Yuma Police Department. The teen was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Neither victim has been publicly identified.
The 64-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was uninjured.
Police suggested that speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
