A motorcycle rider was injured in a hit-and-run collision Sunday afternoon near the Spooner Junction intersection in Carson City.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. on I-580 northbound near Fairview Drive. The rider suffered a leg injury and was bleeding; first responders applied a tourniquet before airlifting the individual to a Reno hospital trauma center.
According to authorities, a vehicle believed to be involved in the hit-and-run was stopped by a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy shortly afterward on Fairview Drive.
Traffic is being diverted around the scene, and motorists should anticipate delays as the investigation continues.
