BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A motorcycle crash in Bedford County on Thursday resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man.
The Virginia State Police reported that the incident occurred around 1:27 a.m. on Route 501 at the intersection with Route 841 when the motorcycle struck a deer.
The rider, identified as Harald Dee Hiser, Jr. of Buena Vista, was ejected from the vehicle despite wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and an investigation is underway.
Emergency services were dispatched, and the area experienced temporary lane closures while the investigation was conducted.
