CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A motorcycle crash on North Kingshighway claimed the life of a Jackson man on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 4:32 p.m. on February 18, 2026, in the 300 block of North Kingshighway, involving a motorcycle and a SUV.
Preliminary police investigations indicated a 2003 Yamaha FZS10 motorcycle was traveling northbound when a 2014 Buick Encore, pulling out of a private drive, attempted to cross Kingshighway and was struck by the motorcycle.
The rider, identified as 46-year-old Robin Lankford of Jackson, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Saint Francis Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police reported that Lankford was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, though it came off during the incident.
The driver of the SUV sustained no injuries.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department’s reconstruction team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
