NORFOLK, Va. — A 20-year-old man died early Saturday morning after crashing his motorcycle while fleeing from Virginia State Police.
According to authorities, the incident began around 1:24 a.m. near the Laskin Road overpass when a trooper observed a motorcycle traveling over 100 miles per hour.
Authorities said the motorcyclist failed to stop, leading to a pursuit that reached speeds over 140 miles per hour. The rider took the Ballentine Boulevard exit and ran multiple red lights before re-entering I-264 West.
After exiting onto Brambleton Avenue, the motorcyclist ran another red light at Parks Avenue and veered off the road, crashing into a concrete wall near Marshall Avenue and Cecelia Street.
Emergency responders performed CPR on the rider, identified as Christian Robert Markus Snyder, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Virginia State Police is investigating the incident.
