Man Dies in Multi-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101
ISLA VISTA, CA – Dylan Monson, 22, died Monday in a multi-vehicle collision on northbound Highway 101, confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred just south of Glen Annie Road around 4:15 p.m. Monson was lane splitting at high speed when his 2015 BMW motorcycle collided with a Tesla and another vehicle. He was ejected from the motorcycle, which subsequently struck a guard rail.
Emergency responders from the CHP, Santa Barbara County Fire, Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response (AMR) arrived at the scene. Monson was pronounced dead at the site; no additional injuries were reported.
Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane following the incident but has since reopened as of Tuesday morning.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
