A motorcycle crash in the Roberts Ferry area on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 2:25 p.m. at the intersection of Yosemite Boulevard/Highway 132 and Crabtree Road. The rider, identified as a Columbia resident, was operating a black 2023 Harley-Davidson when he lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Preliminary reports indicate the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Highway 132 at an unsafe speed when he failed to navigate a right-hand curve, ultimately veering off the roadway. The motorcycle then struck a metal fence, resulting in fatal injuries.
Emergency responders pronounced the rider dead at the scene. One-way traffic control was established during the investigation, which lasted about two hours and 20 minutes, but minimal delays were reported for motorists in the vicinity.
The CHP is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. Further details will be released as they become available.
