Grand Junction Man Killed, Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 82 Near Carbondale
CARBONDALE, CO – A two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a Grand Junction man and serious injuries to a woman, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. near mile marker 12 on Highway 82. Troopers report that a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling west in the center turn lane when it attempted a left turn into a private driveway. The vehicle entered the eastbound lane directly in front of an approaching Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the truck, resulting in the ejection of both the rider and passenger. The rider has been identified as 53-year-old Joshua Norton, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The 77-year-old driver of the Silverado was not injured.
Following the crash, all lanes of Highway 82 were closed for approximately four hours, reopening around 4:03 p.m. The State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
