A Freeport motorcyclist died Wednesday evening after a crash on Interstate 295.
Edmund Goodman, 78, was riding a 2016 Indian Springfield motorcycle northbound on I-295 near mile marker 18 around 6:47 p.m. when he lost control and veered onto the grassy shoulder, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The motorcycle overturned multiple times, and Goodman was ejected from the bike. Despite emergency assistance from several passersby with medical training, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities said Goodman likely experienced a “medical event” prior to the crash. The incident is currently under investigation.
