PHOENIX – A motorcyclist was killed in a multivehicle crash on the westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway near 32nd Street on Tuesday morning.
The collision, involving seven vehicles, occurred around 8:45 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. A motorcyclist was pinned under a commercial van and was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital.
One woman from another vehicle sustained unknown injuries and was also hospitalized.
The 40th Street on-ramp and multiple lanes of the mainline freeway were closed following the incident. The closure escalated to a full shutdown of westbound Loop 202 at 40th Street before 10:30 a.m. All lanes were reopened by 12:20 p.m., as reported by the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The crash is under investigation.
