A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Riverside on Tuesday night, authorities said.
Christopher Tapia of Riverside suffered fatal injuries at about 8:40 p.m. on Van Buren Boulevard at Porter Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was stationary at a red light when a 2017 Nissan Sentra struck it from behind, pushing the motorcycle into the intersection, where Tapia collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and pronounced Tapia dead shortly after. The driver of the Nissan, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
