Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal I-476 Crash; Investigation Underway
RADNOR, PA—A motorcyclist died following a crash on Interstate 476 Tuesday evening, according to the Delaware County Medical Examiner.
Christopher Caserta, 53, of Spring City, was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. near mile marker 10.7 north. Emergency personnel arrived to perform lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful.
Authorities reported that witnesses stated Caserta was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving between lanes leading up to the crash. He lost control while shifting from the center lane to the left lane, resulting in the motorcycle’s front end washing out, which caused him to be pinned beneath the vehicle.
The motorcycle traveled approximately 150 feet off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and came to rest in the left lane. There is currently no confirmation on whether Caserta was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The scene remains under investigation by state police, and further details will be released as they become available.
