Motorcyclist Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on I-95 in Darien, Police Report.

DARIEN — A 56-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run collision on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, state police confirmed.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Alexander Adrian Rivera of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene following the crash, which occurred around 6:49 a.m.

The Connecticut State Police reported that Rivera was riding a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT motorcycle when he was struck by a brown or black pickup truck, described as either a 2022 or 2026 Toyota Tundra. The truck fled the scene after the collision.

According to investigators, the impact caused Rivera’s motorcycle to slide into a grassy median near the Northbound Darien Rest Area, where he struck a highway plaza sign.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for several hours as emergency crews and police responded, and the highway was eventually reopened.

Witnesses reported that the fleeing vehicle may be missing a side-view mirror and could have visible damage due to sideswiping.

Police are actively investigating the incident and seeking additional witnesses. Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is urged to contact CSP Troop G – Bridgeport at 203-696-2500.
