ELLSWORTH TOWNSHIP – A fatal collision between a dump truck and a motorcycle occurred on State Route 224 on Sunday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Knauf and Gault Roads. William Diver, 52, of Canfield, was operating a dump truck and turning right from a private drive onto eastbound State Route 224 when his vehicle was struck by a motorcycle.
Eugene Henry, 72, of Berlin Center, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound when he collided with the rear of the dump truck. Authorities pronounced Henry dead at the scene; Diver was uninjured.
State Route 224 remained closed in the area until approximately 11 p.m. while the incident was under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
