Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal Millsboro Crash.

MILLSBORO, Del. — A motorcycle crash left one man dead Saturday evening, Sept. 13, on Dupont Boulevard (US 113) at Centerview Drive.

Authorities identified the victim as 52-year-old Brian Irons of York, Pennsylvania. The collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when Irons’ Honda motorcycle, traveling north, failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection at high speed, according to the Delaware State Police.

A Chevrolet Malibu was driving west on Centerview Drive with a green light when the motorcycle struck its left front side. Despite wearing a helmet, Irons was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver of the Malibu, a Millsboro resident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

Dupont Boulevard was closed for approximately three and a half hours as the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation and cleared the area.

The investigation is ongoing, and troopers encourage witnesses or anyone with information to contact Sergeant A. Mitchell at (302) 703-3269 or submit tips through the Delaware State Police Facebook page or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
