Motorcyclist killed in I-77 crash that caused significant lane closures in Iredell County.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on I-77 near Langtree Road on Thursday morning, October 29.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m., involved a single motorcycle and an SUV. The victim, 35-year-old Jeffery Robertson, died at the scene, according to authorities.

Troopers reported that Robertson was riding a cruiser-style Kawasaki when an apparent tire failure caused him to lose control in the southbound toll lane. After the motorcycle crashed, he was thrown from the bike and subsequently struck by an oncoming SUV. A tractor-trailer also collided with the motorcycle.

Initially suspected as a hit-and-run, investigators later determined through a thorough review of toll lane and dashcam footage that no other vehicles were involved.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, and the incident caused lane closures for several hours as investigators worked on-site. The investigation remains ongoing.
