Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Washington Street in Auburn.

Auburn Motorcycle Collision Results in Fatality

AUBURN, ME – A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after colliding with an SUV on Washington Street South near Miami Avenue.

The incident occurred around 6:39 a.m. involving a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle and a 2022 Volvo SUV, according to Auburn police. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the SUV driver sustained no injuries. The names of both individuals are being withheld pending family notification.

Preliminary investigations revealed the SUV changed lanes, causing the motorcycle to strike its rear. Police reported the motorcycle operator, wearing a helmet, was ejected and landed near a guardrail; the SUV veered off the roadway into a wooded area. Authorities stated speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.

Auburn police are leading the investigation, which includes a crash reconstruction. The scene was secured with assistance from the Auburn Fire Department and Auburn Public Works, who managed road closures and traffic control. The southbound lane on Washington Street remained closed for over five hours, with detours in place and one lane of northbound traffic limited.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues, authorities said.
