HUDSON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A single-vehicle crash left one juvenile dead near Hudson, SD, on October 1, 2023.
Authorities said Teague Jacob Rus was driving northbound on 488th Avenue near 294th Street, pulling a male on a snowboard.
Witnesses reported that the snowboarder fell, prompting the truck to reverse, striking a juvenile male who had fallen from the bed.
Emergency responders transported the injured teen to Haywarden Regional Hospital in Iowa, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
There were no other reported injuries, and charges against the driver are pending.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation, and all details released thus far are preliminary.
Names of the juveniles involved have not been disclosed.
