Nampa Motorcyclist Voices Safety Concerns Following Crash at Altered Cherry Lane Bend.

Nampa Motorcyclist Involved in Crash at Unlit Bend on Cherry Lane, Calls for Improved Signage

NAMPA, Idaho — A Nampa motorcyclist crashed on Cherry Lane at an unlit bend last Tuesday, raising concerns about road safety due to lack of signage.

David Hallman was riding to work around 7:41 a.m. when he encountered a sudden turn on Cherry Lane between Middleton and Midland roads, where he lost control of his motorcycle. Authorities confirmed that Hallman laid the bike down in gravel, narrowly avoiding a concrete barrier. He sustained minor injuries, while the motorcycle was damaged.

Hallman reported that road-closed signs were not present at the time of his crash. After contacting the city, he reached out to local media to alert others about the hazardous conditions.

Alan Kindall, a neighbor near the bend, noted that at least seven drivers have ended up in his gravel driveway due to the new road alignment. He indicated that some vehicles have sustained damage, evidenced by tire marks and debris left in the area.

Both Hallman and Kindall expressed concerns about insufficient warning for drivers. “This happens pretty much every day,” Kindall stated, referencing ongoing traffic issues despite existing closure signs.

The City of Nampa confirmed that the road work is part of a development project. Idaho News 6 has contacted Lennar Homes seeking clarification on signage placement and safety measures in the affected area.

No major injuries have been reported from the incidents, but Hallman’s crash highlights the urgent need for clearer warnings to ensure safety on the road.
