A 25-year-old Prattville police officer died in a motorcycle crash on an Autauga County highway Monday afternoon.
Dakota Davis was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to Alabama State Troopers. He was off duty at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said there have been no arrests yet as the investigation into the crash continues. Witnesses reported that Davis was thrown from his motorcycle upon impact.
Davis married his wife, Chloe Greiner-Davis, on October 10 and had purchased their first home shortly before the accident. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support his family during this tragic time.
Chloe expressed her heartbreak, stating she loved him deeply and had concerns about his motorcycle. However, she acknowledged it was a passion he had held since childhood.
His family described the incident as a “freak accident,” asserting that no one was to blame. A funeral was held Saturday, coinciding with what his family said was his favorite Halloween. The Prattville Police Department honored him with a procession to the church for his service.
