NSP Probes Fatal Motorcycle Crash That Claims Three Lives.

ARTHUR, Neb. (KSNB) – Three people died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 61 south of Arthur on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. MT.

The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is investigating the incident involving two motorcycles reported by the Arthur County Sheriff’s Department.

According to NSP, one motorcycle lost control and collided with the other. The rider of the first motorcycle, 36-year-old Jacob Byrd of Brownlee, and the passenger of the second motorcycle, 45-year-old Stephanie Rodriquez of North Platte, died at the scene. The second motorcycle’s rider, 52-year-old Michael Laack of North Platte, was transported to Ogallala Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Highway 61 was closed for five hours during the investigation, which includes a full crash reconstruction by NSP.

Emergency responders included the Arthur County Volunteer Fire Department, Arthur County Sheriff’s Department, Keith County EMS, Keystone and Lemoyne Volunteer Fire Departments, Ogallala Police Department, Nebraska Game and Parks, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
