One Dead in I-270 Crash in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – A single-vehicle crash on northbound I-270 at Montrose Road resulted in one fatality on the morning of May 8.

Maryland State Police responded to the scene shortly before 9:30 a.m. Authorities confirmed that the driver, the sole occupant of a Lexus sedan, lost control of the vehicle, overturned, and struck the jersey wall. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident marks the third fatal crash in Montgomery County in the last 36 hours. Earlier that morning, another fatal collision occurred in Bethesda on Glenbrook Road near Bradley Boulevard, killing the driver and seriously injuring a passenger.

Additionally, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Thursday on the outer loop of the Capital Beltway east of the Connecticut Avenue exit. Maryland State Police believe the pedestrian was struck while standing next to a work van parked on the inner loop.

According to police, two vehicles hit the pedestrian; the driver of one vehicle remained on the scene while the other fled. Authorities are seeking public assistance to locate the first vehicle, described as a silver or gray sedan with significant front-end damage.
