COOS COUNTY, Ore. — A juvenile passenger was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Coos Bay on Monday morning.
At 10:07 a.m. on July 13, 2026, Oregon State Police responded to the incident near milepost 240, about one mile south of Coos Bay.
Authorities reported that a northbound blue Chevrolet Venture van, driven by 29-year-old Taylor Anthony Harris of Coos Bay, drifted into the median, overcorrected, and left the roadway before rolling down an embankment.
The juvenile passenger was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced deceased. Harris sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
The investigation did not affect traffic flow on the highway, according to Oregon State Police.
A passerby performed CPR on the juvenile prior to the arrival of first responders, and the efforts were acknowledged by police.
Assistance at the scene was provided by Coos Central Fire & Rescue, Greenacres Fire & Rescue, Bay Cities Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
