VERMILION, Ohio (WOIO) – A motorcycle crash on U.S. Route 6 near Sunnyside Road claimed a life Saturday evening at approximately 7:53 p.m.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped at a traffic light when a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycle collided with its rear.
The driver of the Silverado, identified as 21-year-old Grady Watkins of Tennessee, was not injured.
The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Corey Yarmock of Amherst, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS but later died from the injuries, OSHP said.
Watkins was wearing a seatbelt, while Yarmock had a helmet on during the incident.
The crash remains under investigation by OSHP. Emergency responders included the Vermilion Police Department, Vermilion Fire Department, Lifecare EMS, and D&A Towing.
