Albuquerque – Multiple accidents were reported across the city on October 3, 2023, resulting in serious injuries and road closures.
At approximately 4:25 PM, an ATV crash at 98th St SW and Dennis Chavez Blvd SW left two riders injured. A woman sustained a head injury while a man suffered arm and leg injuries. Both were transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in serious condition, according to authorities.
Shortly after, at around 5:00 PM, police and Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) responded to a collision at Coors Blvd NW and Hanover Rd NW. The status of any injuries is currently unknown.
Just before 5:20 PM, another accident involving a motorcycle occurred near 12945 Ladera Dr NW, adjacent to the Amazon Fulfillment Warehouse. The rider was taken to the hospital by AFR with serious injuries.
At 5:23 PM, a rollover accident took place at Wyoming Blvd NE and Academy Rd NE. Details regarding the condition of those involved are not yet available.
A subsequent vehicle collision was reported at 5:55 PM at the same intersection as the earlier ATV crash. This incident did not appear to result in major injuries, but authorities responded.
Earlier, at 1:30 PM, a crash on I-40 westbound near Rio Grande Blvd closed three lanes temporarily. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
Two additional accidents were reported around 2:45 PM at Coors Blvd and Las Estancias, and a separate crash at Coors and Bridge, both of which led to lane closures that were resolved by 3:35 PM.
UPDATE: At approximately 6:45 PM, collisions were reported at 98th and Central and at Montgomery and Juan Tabo, prompting responses from APD and AFR. At 6:50 PM, another ATV incident occurred at Vista del Norte Rd NE and Osuna Rd NE, with the condition of the rider unknown.
