AUSTIN, Texas — A 17-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash with an SUV in South Austin on Thursday night.
The Austin Police Department identified the victim as Samuel Gustavo Martinez. The incident occurred around 10:37 p.m. on October 29, in the 11200 block of Menchaca Road.
Authorities said the SUV was pulling out of a business near Ravenscroft Drive when the motorcycle collided with it. Bystanders attempted CPR until emergency personnel arrived, but Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The cause of the crash is still under review.
This incident marks Austin’s 73rd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 75 fatalities.
