REDDING, Calif. — A 76-year-old motorcyclist from Alabama died in a crash on Interstate 5 in Redding on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred at 5:04 p.m. on northbound I-5, north of Knighton Road. Preliminary reports indicate that Monica Marie Martin, driving an Indian motorcycle, drifted from the #2 lane into the center median and lost control.
Martin was rushed to Mercy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, CHP officials confirmed.
Authorities stated that there is no evidence suggesting alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
