A 62-year-old St. Ignace man died in a motorcycle crash Thursday in Mackinac County.
The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. on US-2, west of I-75, in Moran Township, according to the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office.
A 39-year-old St. Ignace man driving a Jeep pulled from a restaurant driveway into the path of the westbound motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Jeep driver sustained no injuries.
Authorities said speed and alcohol do not seem to have been contributing factors. The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reported that US-2 was closed between Worth Road and I-75 at 1 p.m. The road was opened for alternating one-lane traffic by 1:15 p.m. and fully reopened by 4:10 p.m.
