State police search for driver linked to fatal motorcycle accident on I-95.

A motorcycle crash on Interstate 95 in Darien early Tuesday resulted in a fatality and the search for a fleeing driver.

The incident occurred on I-95 North near the Darien rest area just before 6:50 a.m., according to Connecticut State Police.

Authorities identified the victim as Alexander Rivera, 56, from Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. He was riding a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT when the motorcycle was struck by a brown, 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, which reportedly left the scene.

State police stated that the collision happened in the right travel lane of I-95 North, causing Rivera to veer off the highway through the gore of the exit ramp and into the grassy median of the rest area. The motorcycle subsequently capsized, and Rivera was thrown into the base of a highway plaza sign, suffering fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Darien Fire Department, Darien Emergency Medical Services, and the Department of Transportation responded to assist with medical aid and traffic control. The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, along with other investigative units, is handling the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or dashboard camera footage from the area of the northbound Darien Service Plaza between 6:40 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. to contact Trooper Daniel Sottini at Troop G in Bridgeport at 203-696-2500 or via email at Daniel.Sottini@ct.gov.
