OZARK, Ark. — A 66-year-old man from Tennessee was fatally injured in a motorcycle crash in Franklin County on Wednesday morning.
Franklin Thomas of Collierville, TN, was riding a 2023 Harley Davidson southbound on North Arkansas 23 when the incident occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. According to Arkansas State Police, the motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Weather conditions were reported as clear with dry pavement at the time of the crash. Emergency response was initiated, but Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported.
North Arkansas 23, also known as the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, is a popular route known for its steep hills and sharp turns, particularly among motorcyclists. The area has been highlighted in various motorcycle publications and was ranked No. 2 in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice for “Best Motorcycle Trip” in 2014.
Authorities stated that an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Lane closures were not reported as a result of the incident.
