Three Killed in Upper Marlboro Motorcycle Crash
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A motorcycle crash claimed the lives of three individuals early Sunday, July 12, around 12:45 a.m. on Route 301 at Governors Park Lane.
According to Maryland State Police, the collision involved a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a black Tesla Model 3. Preliminary investigation indicates the Tesla was making a left turn when it failed to yield, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.
Matthew Eric Vowell, 48, and Krystal Ann Vowell, 47, both of Friendship, were pronounced dead at the scene. Adriana Lanae Maxwell, 22, of Glen Burnie, a rideshare passenger in the Tesla, was also killed. The driver of the Tesla was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities believe a third vehicle struck the motorcycle’s passenger after the initial collision and then fled the scene. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration facilitated road closures lasting over four hours.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating the incident. Once completed, the case will be forwarded to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding potential charges.
