EAST DUBLIN, Ga. (WGXA) — Three individuals, including a teenager, died and two others were injured in a head-on collision in Laurens County early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Georgia 29 when a Chrysler 300 crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Kia Sorento.
Officials from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) confirmed that the driver of the Chrysler, identified as 29-year-old Demarcus Wimibish of Millen, Ga., and both occupants of the Kia, 35-year-old Chelsea Wilson and 16-year-old Aliah Smith, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional passengers in the Kia were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as “non-life-threatening.”
Laurens County Coroner Richard Stanley III reported that the injured passengers were also Wilson’s children, and that Smith was a student at Treutlen County Schools.
In response to the incident, Treutlen County Schools issued a statement on social media expressing condolences and offering mental health resources for students and staff. The district noted that the community is mourning the loss of a student and emphasized the profound impact of this tragedy.
No additional details regarding the investigation or road conditions were disclosed. Lane closures were in effect as authorities investigated the scene.
