Three Fatal Vehicle Accidents in South Valley Over July 25-26 Weekend
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Three people were killed in separate vehicle accidents over the weekend, according to authorities.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the incidents. The first accident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. on July 25 on Highway 101 near the Sargent overcrossing. A 45-year-old woman from Watsonville was riding a motorcycle when she crashed and was pronounced dead on the scene, despite lifesaving efforts from emergency responders.
Another motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from San Jose, died in a separate accident on July 26 at around 2:39 p.m. on State Route 152, near Ferguson Road. He collided with a Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer. Witnesses reported that he suffered serious injuries and did not survive after paramedics attempted aid.
Later that same day, at about 4:35 p.m., a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks occurred on Bolsa Road, north of Bloomfield Road. A 56-year-old man from Aptos was found unresponsive and subsequently died. The driver of the other truck attempted to flee but collapsed nearby and was arrested for fleeing the scene.
Authorities emphasized that all three accidents were preventable. “Obeying traffic laws ensures we all make it to our destinations safely,” said Noel Coady, CHP Hollister-Gilroy Area Commander.
